33rd World Congress of Endourology and SWL

This past fall, two meetings became one when the endourology and oncology sections of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) co-hosted the first-ever World Congress of Endourology and SWL

_D2A3084OVERVIEWNearly 1,900 health-care professionals and scientists focusing on treating kidney issues gathered for the five-day meeting at ExCeL London. “ExCeL’s flexible event space provided the ideal blank canvas for us to grow our delegate attendance and create a larger event in London than initially planned,” said Hannah Doyle, BAUS’s events manager.

CHALLENGESBecause plans for the meeting were so ambitions, organizers worried about presenting a cohesive education program. (Read our Pre Con profile.) Happily, sessions were well attended and the planning staff was able to get immediate feedback from attendees through the conference app. “The app worked especially well when it came to voting within sessions,” Doyle said.

INITIATIVES  A new e-poster program at the conference was an important part of the show’s educational offerings. Doyle was pleased that the program was a hit: “It worked very well, especially considering it was a new concept for a number of the presenters.”
