CHALLENGES When we caught up with the planning team last spring, the launch of the STRONG by Zumba program was a big priority. How did it go? “Phenomenal!” said Jonathan Perlman, events director at Zumba Fitness. “We had tons of traction on social [media] and excitement at the event.”

INITIATIVES Another goal for Perlman’s team was to celebrate a big anniversary: the Zumba Instructor Network (ZIN) turned 10 in 2016. This year’s convention played up the benefits of becoming a member: In addition to training and licensing, ZIN provides monthly music and choreography modules, marketing tools, and a robust online network for its members. The anniversary celebration went over well. “It was quite a special year,” Perlman said.
