AAA 2016 Annual Meeting

More than 3,000 accountants, students, and professors are heading to the Big Apple this summer for 350-plus concurrent sessions and panels at the American Accounting Association’s (AAA) Annual Meeting and Conference on Teaching and Learning in Accounting.

CHALLENGES While this year’s meeting will be able to spread out comfortably at the New York Hilton Midtown and the Sheraton New York Times Square, AAA is focused on venue-sourcing going forward. “Our Annual Meeting attendance growth leaves us faced with sourcing ample space,” said Erlinda L. Jones, AAA’s senior director of meetings and programs, “to accommodate our future meetings in two-hotel packages in cities across the country that will fit the large amount of sessions we offer to our members, accommodate the 8,400-plus total room nights required to house attendees, and provide easy airport access to our international members.”

INITIATIVES This year’s meeting will pay tribute to AAA’s long history of providing career guidance and up-to-date education to its members. Speakers will focus not only on AAA’s history but on the organization’s plans for the future. “We began a year-long celebration of our Centennial Celebration at our 2015 Annual Meeting in Chicago,” Jones said. “The ‘Celebration of a Century’ will end at our 2016 Annual Meeting this August in New York City.”
